Is a Doomgate deck viable? Check out Aquablad’s experiment here:

Right after I got the game a few days back, Doomgate was in the very first pack I bought. I looked at it, saw a very difficult card to pull off, and haven’t really tried it out yet. But I might. I might. 😀

    plantblanket,

That’s a really interesting take on the deck. I think I might try that out for myself. Thanks for sharing!

    You’re welcome blowenthal.
The Bloomsprites and Caretakers are the prime sac targets. I chose Bloomspites instead of Elderwood Hermits, because they have the potential to generate another unit to sac.
A key point in the success of this to make sure your sacrifice targets are adjacent to your Bone Collectors. The most ridiculous one I’ve had got up to like 15/16 or something (w/ Embrace and Caretakers buffing it too). Against Red/Green, they have very few options to get rid of it once it grows too large.

The way I play this deck is to turtle (making sure the enemy has no lands that are w/in two spaces from my orb) and to control (deck is packed w/ removal). I decided to create the deck b/c the Yellow Control is v appealing to me, but I don’t have enough cards in my collection to make it work. If I had it, I would include Ruunin the Relentless too. I’d be more comfortable playing ranked w/ the deck if I had Ruunin, bc she gives me another win condition and another unit to potentially sac. The deck is a lot of fun. I’ve managed to get Ostregoth out at least 3 times.

Thanks for checking it out & hope you have fun w/ it.
